Seen & Unseen

This painting is black and white oil paint on a cradled wood panel.  The reference photograph for this painting was an Instagram photo, one of many such selfies taken by the model.  This painting explores the tension between the human impulse to be seen and recognized by others, and the competing tendency to remain masked and hidden.
