For She Loved Much
This is a modern retelling of the Gospel story of the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and dried them with her hair (Luke 7:36-50). Jesus was eating a meal at the house of a Pharisee when a “sinful woman” came and anointed his feet with expensive ointment from an alabaster box. The Pharisee (named as Simon) thinks ill of Jesus for allowing a sinful woman to touch him. Jesus, knowing his thoughts, explains that her humble act is one of love, because of the many sins which had been forgiven her. Jesus sums up the matter in Verse 47: “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much.”
